HOWARD
Samuel Howard of Boston was one of those participating in the Boston Tea Party, 1773, and a neighbor of Paul Revere. His son Charles moved to Savannah. Charles was a part owner in the first steamer to travel the Savannah River and a substantial owner in the S. S. Savannah, the first steamship to cross the Atlantic Ocean. His son the Rev. Charles Wallace Howard was the first pastor of the the French Huguenot Church in Charleston, S. C. on its reorganization in 1845 . The church had been destroyed by fire a hundred years prior. His great granddaughter, Augusta Clyatt Howard married John Heyward Lynah (1897-1935).
